“Dallas”- The Gospel Plowboys

“Dallas” is an original song written by our guitar player Michael Jenkins. In an article written in Bluegrass Today, Michael states;

“I began writing the song a little over a year ago, and the guys were so gracious to include the song on this upcoming project. Dallas is a true story, and an example of the child-like faith the Bible talks about in coming to know Jesus Christ as our personal savior. This is the first original tune released by The Gospel Plowboys, and we hope people will enjoy and get a special blessing from it. Luke 18:17.”

Michael grew up in a small coal mining town in West Virginia. On Sunday mornings, Michael’s family would drive to church in an old red pickup truck. On the way to church they would pick up a man who was very poor, and had the mind of a 5 year old. His name was Dallas, and he had a mental disability that would effect some things in his life. On the way to church he would always say, “I hope they sing my song today!” While in church he would stand up and shout, “sing my song, At The Cross!” The church would then sing the song, and afterwards Dallas would say, “I know Him! I love Him! He loves me, because He lives right in my heart.” Sometimes we make salvation so difficult when all we have to do is come to the Lord with a child-like faith.

Matthew 18:2-5 “And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.”
